How do presidential elections affect the stock market?

Let’s make it simple.

• When Trump was President, he put tariffs (taxes) on goods from China. Biden, the current President, has kept most of those tariffs and added more. This shift marks a move away from the old policy of free trade.

• Both Trump and Biden are likely to use fiscal stimulus policies to boost the economy. Still, they will likely have different approaches, such as varying combinations of tax cuts and increased government spending.

• The political party in power can impact specific sectors. For example, Republicans might push for more fossil fuel development, while Democrats might promote renewable energy.

• However, these policy preferences don't always align with investment results. Surprisingly, renewable energy companies did better during Trump's presidency, while traditional energy companies (like oil) have done better under Biden.

Does it Matter?

It may not matter.
The market could remain bullish until the Fed gets bullish on the economy. People fail to realize that the market does not have to do anything. People assume a crash has to happen, yet we break through highs repeatedly.

Certain companies will do better. China’s success in the next decade or so could be based on its government stimulus and its relationship with the U.S.

If you believe everything should be “made in America,” remember the advantages you have when you are an individual nation but have good relationships with allies who provide mutually beneficial business relationships.

1. Economic Stability: Balances internal production with external trade, mitigating economic downturns.

2. Resource Access: Ensures continuous production by importing scarce materials from allies.

3. Tech and Knowledge Exchange: Promotes innovation and quality improvements through shared expertise.

4. Market Expansion: Opens foreign markets for American products, boosting sales and job creation.

5. National Security: Strengthens supply chains and cooperation on global challenges.

BRICS is preparing to launch an independent blockchain-based system called 'BRICS PAY.'

This sets the stage for further de-dollarization, which could further undermine the dollar's status as the global reserve currency.

Ushakov didn’t provide any details about the plan, but he said the BRICS bloc remains committed to increasing its role in the international monetary and financial system.
